Security Hazard on Patreon
If you’re not in the slightest bit interested in giving a single penny of your hard-earned cash to Security Hazard, I completely understand. In fact, I think that’s a ruddy sensible stance. Security Hazard is a fan-site. The blog posts, the episode reviews, the podcasts, the videos, the endless waffling about The Investigator… it’s all here because I put it here. That’s not your fault, so you shouldn’t have to pay for it. All of that continues, free of charge, because I enjoy it.
I’ve been assured, however, that there are people – interesting people – who care about my well-being. I’d love to be modest and awkward and witty at this point and say I’ve no idea who these people are, but that would be a disservice to the dedicated folks who take the time to show their support every day. Those people who read every episode review I publish, comment on every Security Hazard Mini video, and let us know they’re watching The Security Hazard Show as it goes out live – you’re nothing short of wonderful. The community that has gathered around Security Hazard serves as my motivation to keep going when times are hard. Your messages of gratitude and appreciation add so much colour to what would otherwise be one sad git (me) banging on about old TV shows nobody cares about. The likes, comments, shares, subscriptions – all of that demonstrates to me that people actually care very deeply about the work of Gerry Anderson. You want the likes of Thunderbirds, Stingray, and Captain Scarlet to be discussed as openly and passionately as possible, and some of you enjoy the unique approach I take to doing that.
I have also been assured that there are people who want to do more to show their support than liking posts and leaving comments. So, for those members of the Security Hazard cult who don’t feel like suffering through hours and hours of posts, videos, and podcasts is enough of a sacrifice, you are now invited to support Security Hazard on Patreon.

What is Patreon?

Patreon is a globally-recognised internet begging bowl. It’s a website where you can pay a set amount every month which goes straight to your favourite struggling artists (after Patreon take their cut). Every creative has their own page, and ours can be found at patreon.com/securityhazard
Why Patreon?
We chose Patreon because, put simply, they’re the best internet begging bowl around. I’ve actually been using a similar site called Ko-fi for a little while now and although it has its benefits, I never quite felt I was using it properly. Patreon feels better equipped to do what we want it to do.
Wait a minute – whose “we”? That’s me and Ben Wolf Page, the co-host of The Security Hazard Show. Since The Security Hazard Show is now a big part of what we put out online, Ben is also going to be closely involved in the running of our Patreon page. Switching from my personal Ko-fi page to a more collaborative, all-encompassing Security Hazard Patreon page made sense because the show is a joint effort between me and Ben.

So you’re not just helping me out by joining our Patreon – you’re helping Ben too. That said, I’ll keep my Ko-fi page open as a personal tip jar… just in case you loathe Ben and only want to give me money. Although if that’s the case I’m not sure I want your money – Ben’s nice and far more deserving of your money than I am. In fact, here’s Ben’s personal tip jar too.
What are you paying for?
What do you get in exchange for coughing up on Patreon? A warm fuzzy feeling because you did a nice thing… yeah, I know, sounds rubbish doesn’t it? I’ll be honest though, that is most of what you’re paying for. It’s not like a mortgage where you eventually pay it off and have the full value of your own home to show for it. That’s why a mortgage is widely regarded by financial experts as a good investment and a Patreon subscription isn’t.1
Ben and I are going to sweeten the deal a little bit. If you like Security Hazard, it stands to reason that you like the articles and videos that we write and produce. So, if you pay for a Patreon subscription, you’ll essentially get access to even more of that stuff. When you sign up, you unlock access to special posts and videos that are only available on Patreon. And because we need to give you a bit more of an incentive, it won’t be exactly the same stuff you can already get on the Security Hazard blog and on YouTube.
Exclusively for Patreon members, Ben and I will be producing real-time commentaries on Gerry Anderson episodes. You can watch your favourite shows with us babbling along in your ears! That doesn’t sound irritating, does it?! In truth, what we hope to deliver with these commentaries is our personal takes and nerdy knowledge of Gerry Anderson’s work in a more conversational manner. We’ll probably be a bit cheeky about some of the more embarrassing moments too. Hopefully it’ll be funny enough to enhance your viewing experience, and not ruin your beloved shows.
I’ll also be exploring the strange, strange world of Gerry Anderson video games in some Patreon-exclusive playthrough videos. If you’ve read and enjoyed my Thunderbirds Video Games Retrospective, Patreon will be the place to actually watch me play some of those questionable games.
Ben and I will also dig into our personal archives (a fancy way of saying computer hard-drives), and uploading embarrassing old videos that will make you question why on earth you gave us money in the first place. If you’ve ever wondered what a Supercar fan film made by an 11-year-old in the mid-2000s might have looked like, the Security Hazard Patreon will have all the answers in due course.
How much does it cost?
Time to talk money. Exact amounts will vary based on your local currency. There are three membership tiers for you to choose from. The more you pay, the more you get. To learn more about billing and membership from Patreon, visit the Patreon Help Center.
Tier 1: “TOP SECRET”

For pledging you’ll unlock:
- Our eternal gratitude

- Exclusive posts and updates
Tier 2: “SECURITY CLEARANCE”

$9 USD per month (£8 GBP per month approximately).
Unlock:
- Early access to Security Hazard Minis
- Plus all previous Tier 1 perks.
Tier 3: “ACCESS ALL AREAS”

$11.50 USD per month (£10 GBP per month approximately).

Individual posts and videos can also be unlocked for $3 USD per post.
You can also sign up for a free membership which simply notifies you whenever we post new content on Patreon.
We’ve tried to keep this as straightforward as possible. Tier 1 gets you the goods and represents the best value. Tiers 2 and 3 are for the people feeling extra generous – and those are the best people, let’s be honest.
Is Security Hazard still free?
Yes. The ready-salted, original-flavoured Security Hazard experience remains fundamentally the same whether you’re a Patreon member or not. And that covers an awful lot of stuff right now. As of May 2025, here’s what you can expect from Security Hazard without paying a penny:
Security Hazard Minis
Every Monday.
Weekly YouTube videos featuring my ridiculous array of Gerry Anderson toys, books, memorabilia and unwanted opinions.
The Security Hazard Show
Every Wednesday.
Broadcast live every Wednesday on YouTube, The Security Hazard Show is a video podcast hosted by Ben Wolf Page and yours truly. We review episodes, talk about the film and TV that influenced, or was influenced by, Gerry Anderson’s shows, and chat with our viewers and listeners about their favourite things from the Anderson universe. Shortly after the live show, the audio version of every episode is made available far and wide on all good podcast platforms.
Space Precinct Episode Reviews
Every Friday. Starting June 6th 2025.
Gerry Anderson’s 1990s live-action sci-fi cop show Space Precinct is the next series going under the microscope on the Security Hazard blog, thanks to the recent Anderson Entertainment Blu-ray release. In the tradition of previous series reviews like Thunderbirds, Stingray, and The Secret Service, I’ll be analysing every high defintion episode of Space Precinct in excrutiating detail to chart the highs and lows of the production, get to know the characters and plots, and to poke fun at the things we were probably never meant to see.

And that’s just the stuff that comes out every week! Special posts and videos celebrating big milestones and niche topics are still going to be coming as regularly as I can possibly manage. If massive projects like the The 20th Anniversary Retrospective of the Thunderbirds Movie, or The Complete Map of Four Feather Falls are right up your alley, then oh boy is there some good stuff planned for you in the future.
So, if you think all that work deserves some money thrown in its general direction, please consider supporting Security Hazard on Patreon.
One final note. Give what you can, but only if you can. Much like Dr. Helena Russell, we aren’t looking for heroes. Even the smallest pledges will make a big difference in mine and Ben’s lives. If you can’t support us financially, that’s okay. A share on social media, a comment on one of our posts, or liking our videos all helps us reach a wider audience, and it’s free. At its core, Security Hazard is a place for Gerry Anderson fanatical fans to fantically fan all over their favourite shows in the whole wide world, and I want that to remain an accessible opportunity to as many people as possible for as long as possible.
Thank you.
